Our ultimate goal is to develop effective and translatable neural repair treatments for injuries to the central nervous system (CNS). Towards this goal, our research investigates the multi-faceted processes critical for rebuilding functional neural circuitry after injury, including: promoting CNS axon regeneration, protecting injured neurons from degeneration, and enhancing the function of regenerated and spared connections. Complementarily, we also explore the logic underlying the brain\u2019s descending control of spinal cord functions in both intact and lesioned conditions.<\/p>\n
