In Memoriam: Jeremy F. P. Ullmann, PhD<\/h1>\n

Dr. Jeremy Ullmann joined the Poduri Lab and Epilepsy Genetics Program as a Research Fellow in January of 2016. He was a neuroscientist with extensive experience in imaging and zebrafish models of neurodegenerative disease. Jeremy received his BSc in Biology from Brandeis University in 2003 and a PhD in neuroscience and bio-imaging at The University of Queensland in Brisbane Australia in 2010. He completed his first post-doc at the Centre for Advanced Imaging (The University of Queensland) under Prof. David Reutens where he developed the world\u2019s highest high-resolution models of pre-clinical animal models and examined the correlation of febrile seizures and temporal lobe epilepsy later in life. As part of the Epilepsy Genetics Program he performed high-throughput genetic screens to validate candidate epilepsy genes. Jeremy tragically passed away on February 10, 2019 at the age of 37 in a hiking accident at Mt. Washington. In addition to the Poduri Lab and Epilepsy Genetics Program, Jeremy was a beloved member of the Kirby Neurobiology community, the zebrafish community, and the Post-Doctoral Association at Boston Children’s Hospital. Jeremy was known by his co-workers as not only an exceptionally smart and creative researcher, but also a genuinely thoughtful and caring colleague and friend. Jeremy was passionate about his work in the lab and deeply devoted to his dear family, including his wife, Kylie, and son, Oscar.<\/p>\n
